Sydney — On the evening of July 1, 2026, the China Democracy Progressive Alliance held a peaceful protest near Sydney Town Hall against the Chinese Communist Party’s founding-day propaganda and the implementation of the PRC Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress. In its leaflet, the CDPA described the day as “Party Founding Day = the Day a Repressive Law Takes Effect,” warning that “no one is safe.”
本次活动时间为下午5:30至晚上7:00，地点为 Sydney Square, near Sydney Town Hall。活动由中国民主进步联盟成员纪懿宸组织，参与者包括中国民主进步联盟主席覃夕权，以及倪永柱、倪永久、付胜利等成员。
The event took place from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at Sydney Square, near Sydney Town Hall. It was organized by CDPA member YICHEN JI. Participants included CDPA Chairman Qin Xiquan, as well as Ni Yongzhu, Ni Yongjiu, Fu Shengli, and other members.
活动现场，参与者展示横幅、标语和传单，向路过民众表达反对中共一党专政、反对思想控制、反对民族洗脑、支持自由民主与人权法治的立场。
At the scene, participants displayed banners, placards, and leaflets, expressing their opposition to the CCP’s one-party dictatorship, ideological control, and ethnic indoctrination, while supporting freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
中国民主进步联盟表示，7月1日不仅是中共用来宣传自身的建党日，更是《民族团结进步促进法》正式实施的日子。该组织认为，这部法律表面上以“民族团结”和“进步”为名，实质上可能成为中共进一步控制思想、压制异见、扩大政治打击范围的工具。
The CDPA stated that July 1 is not only the day the CCP uses to promote its founding, but also the day the Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress officially came into force. The organization believes that although the law uses the language of “ethnic unity” and “progress,” it may become a tool for further ideological control, suppression of dissent, and expanded political repression.
参与者指出，这部法律并不只针对某一个民族或群体，而可能影响所有不愿意服从中共政治叙事的人。今天它可以用“民族团结”的名义打压少数民族，明天也可以用同样的理由打压普通汉人、海外华人、民主人士、维权人士和所有敢于表达不同意见的人。
Participants pointed out that the law may not target only one ethnicity or group, but anyone who refuses to submit to the CCP’s political narrative. Today it can be used in the name of “ethnic unity” to suppress minorities; tomorrow, the same logic may be used against ordinary Han Chinese, overseas Chinese, democracy advocates, rights defenders, and anyone who dares to express dissent.
中国民主进步联盟在传单中重点提醒，第58条可能使异见被定性为“破坏民族团结”，第62条可能使政治表达被解释为“民族分裂”。该联盟认为，在中共体制下，所谓“破坏团结”“民族分裂”的定义权掌握在党手中。
The CDPA highlighted in its leaflet that Article 58 may allow dissent to be characterized as “undermining ethnic unity,” while Article 62 may allow political expression to be interpreted as “ethnic separatism.” The Alliance believes that under the CCP system, the power to define these terms lies in the hands of the Party.
中国民主进步联盟主席覃夕权表示：“我们今天走上街头，不仅是反对中共以法律名义扩大思想控制、压制异见、制造恐惧，也是为了声援台湾，捍卫中华民国所代表的自由、民主、人权与法治价值。”
CDPA Chairman Qin Xiquan said: “Today we take to the streets not only to oppose the CCP’s expansion of ideological control, suppression of dissent, and creation of fear in the name of law, but also to support Taiwan and defend the values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law represented by the Republic of China.”
覃夕权进一步指出，台湾的民主制度证明，中国人完全可以拥有选举、新闻自由、公民社会和法治保障。中共不等于中国，中华人民共和国不等于中华民族。真正属于中国人民的未来，不应该由一个政党决定，而应该由人民自己决定。
Qin further stated that Taiwan’s democratic system proves that Chinese people can have elections, press freedom, civil society, and rule-of-law protections. The CCP is not China, and the PRC is not the Chinese nation. The future that truly belongs to the Chinese people should be decided by the people themselves, not by one political party.
组织者纪懿宸表示，中国共产党并不代表中国人民。中国民主进步联盟支持以中华民国民主自由价值为主体的中国未来，支持中华民国所代表的宪政、民主、自由、人权和法治精神，也声援台湾人民守护民主制度。
Organizer YICHEN JI stated that the Chinese Communist Party does not represent the Chinese people. The CDPA supports a future for China centered on the democratic and free values of the Republic of China, supports the spirit of constitutionalism, democracy, freedom, human rights, and rule of law represented by the ROC, and stands with the people of Taiwan in defending their democratic system.
纪懿宸指出，海外华人不能忘记仍然生活在中国大陆的亿万同胞。正因为海外华人身处自由社会，更应该珍惜表达权利，把真实声音传回墙内，让大陆同胞知道他们并不孤单。
YICHEN JI said that overseas Chinese must not forget the hundreds of millions of compatriots still living in mainland China. Precisely because overseas Chinese live in free societies, they should cherish their right to speak, send truthful voices back behind the Great Firewall, and let people in mainland China know that they are not alone.
活动参与者倪永久表示，中共不仅害怕中国国内人民觉醒，也害怕海外华人发声。他呼吁更多海外华人走出恐惧，以和平、合法、理性的方式表达立场。
Participant Ni Yongjiu said that the CCP fears not only the awakening of people inside China, but also the voices of overseas Chinese. He called on more overseas Chinese to step out of fear and express their positions in peaceful, lawful, and rational ways.
参与者付胜利表示，《民族团结进步促进法》不是一部真正保护人民的法律，而是中共将思想控制进一步法律化、制度化的表现。真正的民族团结应当建立在平等、尊重、自由和法治之上，而不是建立在恐惧、同化、审查和强制服从之上。
Participant Fu Shengli stated that the law is not a law that truly protects the people, but a sign of the CCP further legalizing and institutionalizing ideological control. Genuine ethnic unity should be based on equality, respect, freedom, and the rule of law, not fear, assimilation, censorship, and forced obedience.
活动现场，参与者高喊口号：推翻中共暴政，还政于民！反对《民族团结进步促进法》恶法！反对思想控制，反对民族洗脑！支持中华民国，声援台湾民主！没有共产党，才有新中国！中国属于人民，未来属于人民！
At the event, participants chanted slogans including: Overthrow the CCP’s tyranny and return power to the people! Oppose the repressive Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress! Oppose ideological control and ethnic indoctrination! Support the Republic of China and Taiwan’s democracy! No Communist Party, no new China! China belongs to the people; the future belongs to the people!
在活动过程中，参与者还齐声合唱《中华民国颂》，表达对中华民国民主自由价值的支持。中国民主进步联盟表示，他们支持以中华民国为主体的民主中国理想，声援台湾人民守护自由制度。
During the event, participants also sang Ode to the Republic of China together, expressing support for the democratic and free values of the ROC. The CDPA stated that it supports the ideal of a democratic China centered on the Republic of China and stands with the people of Taiwan in defending their free system.
中国民主进步联盟成员强调，反对中共并不是反对中国人民。恰恰相反，正因为关心中国人民的命运，正因为希望中国拥有一个自由、民主、法治的未来，才必须反对中共一党专政。
CDPA members emphasized that opposing the CCP does not mean opposing the Chinese people. On the contrary, because they care about the fate of the Chinese people and hope China will have a free, democratic, and rule-of-law future, they must oppose the CCP’s one-party dictatorship.
本次抗议活动也向澳洲社会发出呼吁，希望更多人关注中共在海外的影响、跨国镇压以及对中国大陆、香港、新疆、西藏、内蒙古等地区人民的压迫。
The protest also called on Australian society to pay more attention to the CCP’s overseas influence, transnational repression, and oppression of people in mainland China, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and other regions.
活动最后，中国民主进步联盟再次强调，将继续以和平、合法、理性的方式在澳大利亚发声，反对中共暴政，反对恶法统治，支持台湾民主，声援中国大陆同胞，推动中国走向自由、民主、宪政与法治。
At the end of the event, the CDPA emphasized that it will continue to speak out in Australia in peaceful, lawful, and rational ways, oppose CCP tyranny and repressive laws, support Taiwan’s democracy, stand with compatriots in mainland China, and promote China’s transition toward freedom, democracy, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.
中国不属于共产党，中国属于人民。自由不会自动到来，沉默只会延长恐惧。中国民主进步联盟将继续发声，继续行动，继续为自由中国而努力。
China does not belong to the Communist Party; China belongs to the people. Freedom will not come automatically, and silence only prolongs fear. The CDPA will continue to speak out, continue to act, and continue striving for a free China.
