中国民主进步联盟关于中央委员会职务任命及联盟发展方向的讲话Speech of the China Democracy Progressive Alliance on Central Committee Appointments and the Alliance’s Future Direction

这不仅是一份职务任命，更是一份责任与使命的托付。组织建设，是联盟发展的根基；宣传工作，是思想传播与社会动员的重要力量。希望两位部长牢记联盟宗旨，勇于担当，积极作为，团结更多认同民主、自由、人权、法治理念的人士，共同推动联盟建设迈向新的阶段。

This is not merely an appointment to office, but also an entrustment of responsibility and mission. Organizational development is the foundation of the Alliance’s growth; publicity work is an important force for the spread of ideas and social mobilization. We hope the two ministers will keep the Alliance’s purpose firmly in mind, shoulder their responsibilities with courage, act proactively, and unite more people who identify with the values of democracy, freedom, human rights, and the rule of law, so as to jointly advance the Alliance into a new stage of development.

新的征程已经开启。我们必须清醒地认识到，追求自由、民主、法治与社会进步，从来不是一句口号，而是一条需要长期坚持、不断反思、不断行动的道路。

A new journey has begun. We must clearly recognize that the pursuit of freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and social progress is never just a slogan, but a path that requires long-term commitment, constant reflection, and continuous action.

中国民主进步联盟主席表示，我们认同和平、理性、非暴力是一种值得尊重的抗争方式，也承认它在争取国际支持、凝聚社会共识、维护运动正当性方面具有重要价值。然而，我们也必须有勇气面对一个长期被回避的问题：坚持“和理非”是否应当成为一种不可挑战的政治教条？如果一种策略长期未能达到预期效果，我们是否应当进行深刻检讨与战略调整？

The Chairman of the China Democracy Progressive Alliance stated that we recognize peace, rationality, and non-violence as a form of resistance worthy of respect, and we also acknowledge its important value in winning international support, building social consensus, and maintaining the legitimacy of a movement. However, we must also have the courage to face a question that has long been avoided: should adherence to “peaceful, rational, and non-violent” methods become an unchallengeable political dogma? If a strategy has long failed to achieve its expected results, should we conduct a profound review and make strategic adjustments?

历史给予我们的教训十分沉重。六四天安门事件中，无数学生与市民以和平方式表达对自由、民主与政治改革的诉求，却遭到残酷镇压。这段历史提醒我们，面对一个长期拒绝政治改革、严密控制社会、压制公民权利的政权，仅仅寄希望于道德呼吁和善意表达，未必能够促成真正改变。

The lessons of history are extremely grave. During the June 4 Tiananmen incident, countless students and citizens peacefully expressed their demands for freedom, democracy, and political reform, yet they were brutally suppressed. This history reminds us that when facing a regime that has long refused political reform, tightly controlled society, and suppressed civil rights, merely placing hope in moral appeals and goodwill may not necessarily bring about real change.

海外民运走过数十年，最大的危机也许并不只是力量弱小，而是不敢认真总结失败，不敢重新思考方向。一个真正追求民主与自由的运动，应当具备自我批判和战略创新的勇气，而不是把任何一种方法视为永远正确、永远不能讨论的路线。

After decades of overseas democracy activism, perhaps the greatest crisis is not merely weakness in strength, but the unwillingness to seriously summarize failures and rethink direction. A movement that truly pursues democracy and freedom should have the courage for self-criticism and strategic innovation, rather than treating any single method as forever correct and beyond discussion.

人民追求自由、尊严和政治权利的愿望，不应被压制；社会变迁的道路，也从来不是单一和固定的。我们今天更需要讨论的，是如何建立真正广泛的社会基础，如何唤醒更多民众，如何形成有效的公民力量，如何让民主理念不再停留于少数人的呼喊，而成为更多人可以理解、参与和推动的共同事业。

The people’s desire for freedom, dignity, and political rights should not be suppressed; nor has the path of social change ever been singular or fixed. What we need to discuss today is how to build a truly broad social foundation, how to awaken more people, how to form effective civic power, and how to ensure that democratic ideals no longer remain the cries of a minority, but become a shared cause that more people can understand, participate in, and advance.

民运的未来，不在于简单重复过去，而在于敢于面对现实、总结经验、更新思想。只有不断反思与调整，才有可能找到一条更适合中国现实的发展道路。

The future of the democracy movement does not lie in simply repeating the past, but in daring to face reality, summarize experience, and renew ideas. Only through constant reflection and adjustment can we possibly find a path of development more suited to China’s reality.

真正的民主精神，首先应体现在我们自己身上。我们必须敢于讨论不同观点，允许不同路线进行思想上的竞争，允许批评，也接受被批评。只有一个能够容纳不同声音、鼓励理性辩论、尊重事实与经验的组织，才有资格谈论民主，也才有能力推动民主。

The true spirit of democracy should first be reflected in ourselves. We must dare to discuss different viewpoints, allow different routes to compete intellectually, allow criticism, and accept being criticized. Only an organization that can accommodate different voices, encourage rational debate, and respect facts and experience is qualified to speak of democracy and capable of advancing democracy.

中国民主进步联盟将继续以自由、民主、人权、法治为核心价值，团结一切愿意追求社会进步的人士，推动组织建设，扩大思想传播，凝聚行动力量。我们相信，黑暗不会永远存在，沉默不会永远持续。只要有人继续思考、继续发声、继续行动，自由的火种就不会熄灭。

The China Democracy Progressive Alliance will continue to uphold freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law as its core values, unite all those willing to pursue social progress, advance organizational development, expand the spread of ideas, and gather strength for action. We believe that darkness will not last forever, and silence will not continue forever. As long as people continue to think, speak out, and act, the flame of freedom will not be extinguished.

让我们携手前行，坚定信念，凝聚力量，为中国的自由、民主、法治与社会进步而不懈努力。

Let us move forward together, strengthen our conviction, gather our strength, and work tirelessly for China’s freedom, democracy, rule of law, and social progress.
